one class, or two?
The AP Biology program at LBHS consists of one course, that meets
for two hours every day. AP Biology gets an extra grade
point for C or better.
Redesigned AP BiologyThis course
is organized around 4
"Big Ideas", which are:
1. The process of evolution
drives the diversity and unity of life.
systems utilize free energy,
molecular building blocks and cell processes
to grow, to reproduce and to maintain dynamic
homeostasis. This includes the endocrine and immune
3. Living systems
store, retrieve, transmit and respond to information
essential to life processes. This means
genetics and cell communication, including the nervous
4. Biological systems
interact, and these systems and their
interactions possess complex properties. This
"The Survival of the Sickest", a fascinating intro
to evolutionary genetics, available from the main office.
As you read, follow instructions on the worksheet
and submit your ideas. Mr H also suggests: to prepare for
our ecology unit, spend some time outdoors, observing plants and
animals. Think about what you are seeing. Why are
those species in this place? Why are the wild animals doing
what they are doing? What
was my score on the 2017 exam? These are not mailed out, to
learn your score you must sign up at http://www.collegeboard.org/ap-scores.html.
